Pandemi, Bisnis Lobster Takkan Mati

"There is a pandemic or not, I don't think it matters. We even ran out of stock. Because lobster is consumed while there are still many who like to eat seafood such as shrimp and others, lobster will never die,"

Running a business is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand. Profits are not easy and require a lot of effort. During the pandemic, everyone is tested to think creatively to keep earning. In this case, freshwater crayfish cultivation has quite promising opportunities. Because, lobster is a consumption business. So, in any season it has no effect on sales.

Mauda Irvan Hakim, a young freshwater lobster breeder on Jl. Statistics, Pagedangan District BSD, South Tangerang, said this effort has no effect during the pandemic. "There is a pandemic or not, I don't think it matters. We even ran out of stock. Because lobster is consumed while there are still many who like to eat seafood such as shrimp and others, lobster will never die,"  he told the Jagadtani.id Reporter , when met at his farm.

He admitted that he chose the freshwater lobster business because in his area it was still rare to cultivate it. “At first I was bored with work and tried to start a business. Now, after looking around, it's still rare for freshwater crayfish to do business, so I started to study and find out directly from the farmers. Initially 4 pools, little by little first because the start of the business should not be big right away because the risk of failure is quite high. We need to learn, absorb the knowledge that many find out what the market is like and what failures we will face in the future,” he said.

Irvan decided to start the freshwater lobster business in 2019. According to the results of his analysis, many people have not dared to try the animal business whose habitat is in the river.

“Lobster businessmen are still rare. Because its growth is slow, and many are confused where to sell it. In fact, many restaurants are in need. If they already know and learn the market, then there will be more business opportunities. Because instead of thinking about something that doesn't have an answer, it's better if we move on. Let's start with whatever we can do, for example, build a pool first. In doing business, the most important thing is whether you want to start or not,” concluded the man who was born in 1995.

Furthermore, this Betawi-blooded man emphasized, “Crayfish cultivation is slow, compared to fish that are faster than fish. But that's actually an advantage, because the longer we cultivate it, the higher the price offer. The bigger the lobster, the more sought after, so that's why the slower the lobster harvest, the more profit," he concluded.
